It started with the North.
We fell in love with the North long before ForRest had a name. After countless trips here, we knew this was where we felt most at home.
We were looking for a place by a lake, with a northern view - somewhere we could watch the northern lights in winter and the midnight sun in summer.
Then we found it: a small kelo house on a large piece of land, surrounded by forest. From there, ForRest began to take shape - paths through the trees and every part of the experience created here from the ground up.
Nothing here needed inventing.
We simply started with what was already here.
Built slowly. Chosen carefully.
ForRest wasn't designed as a finished concept and placed into the landscape. It has grown here, one piece at a time.
We planned the paths through the forest, chose where the sauna and kota should sit and thought about what you would see from each place - the lake, the trees, the sky.
Every part has been added with a reason, while keeping as much of the land around it untouched as possible.
We use natural materials, simple forms and things that belong here. Not because they fit an idea of the North, but because this is the North.
The way we like it.
ForRest grew from the way we like to spend our time in the North - outside in the snow, around the fire, when it's cold and in the sauna when it's time to warm up.
It's our way of sharing what we love about life here: the quiet, the warmth, the closeness to nature and the simple pleasure of having nowhere else to be.
